What I can tell about Zegama that these photographs cannot? Some call it the Tour de France of trail running and it’s understandable…
It’s the dream race, but trying to run it can take you many years without sleep. The capacity at the starting line is limited to 500 runners, 150 of them are elite and another 125 are reserved for those who have finished all the editions of the mythical race or who have done it below 5h on the last two editions.
After a couple of mathematical operations, there are 225 free dorsals, to be distributed among the more than 10,000 registered to the draw. Real madness!
And all this why? Well, as Kilian said, “Zegama is Zegama.”
Looking the photographs I have taken in the last 7 editions, I realize that podiums don’t matter. Selecting the best photographs (from my point of view), I prefer those that transmit that non-palpable connection between the spectators and the runners.
It doesn’t matter the rain, the cold or the heat… the supporters of Zegama will always be there.
